Veterans Memorial Mural

Add to plan Remove from plan

Located inside Courthouse Plaza next to the Veterans Memorial Pillars. Artist Jerry Brown wrote: "My idea was selected for the Veteran's mural in the Summer of 2007. Once the committee selected my design concept, I met 3 times with local representatives of various veteran's organizations. Over the course of the meetings, the design parts changed and evolved. The painting was completed and dedicated on 11/11/2007. The eagle flying into the sunset represents the journey that many veterans take when returning home. The colorful bars are the campaign ribbons for each military campaign that McKinley County residents have been a part of. The small flags were added to the design concept to represent the Blue Star (child in active duty) and Gold Star (child lost in combat) families."
