Stagecoach Stop Established

Add to plan Remove from plan

Located on the west side of the cultural center in the sidewalk area - The first regular stage coach service in New Mexico was inaugrated in 1850. The Gallup stage coach stop was part of a lesser-known stage route that connected two territorial capitals: Santa Fe and Prescott. Gallup's Stage Coach stop was established on February 7, 1905. The lore about stage coach travel is a popular part of the American West, rife with outlaws and highwaymen. The Gallup Stage Coach Stop aligned with the 35th parallel and paused right in front of the Santa Fe Railroad Staion, now the Gallup Cultural Center (and still a rail station for Amtrak). The stop was called the Blue Goose after a nearby general store.
