Page Hotel/Silver Dust Trading

Add to plan Remove from plan

The Page Hotel was built by Gregory Page in the 1880s on the historic Front Street of Gallup, long before the road became Route 66 and was later paved in 1934. The building has two floors, the lower level for saloon or retail type services and the upper level served as guest rooms. Gregory Page, the owner, held one of the first few timber contracts through the region used to build the railroad. Mr. Page was a very influential member of Gallup during its formation, as he also owned one of the City's first four liquor licenses, wrote for the Gallup's newspaper "The Galup Herald" and was an intense lobbyist for his personal ventures. It was rumored Mr. Page was known to physically settle disagreements, and is rumored to have beat a man to death in the streets of the wild west town.
