Metal Kokopelli

Add to plan Remove from plan

This artwork is created from repurposed materials and sits on a giant gear for a stand. It's a fun piece of art that while large, is easy to miss when driving down Second Street. It's on the southeast corner of the intersection. The Kokopelli has been revered since the time of the Ancestral Puebloan peoples. The Kokopelli has often been associated with chasing away winter and bringing spring, carrying unborn children on his back and distributing them to women, rituals pertaining to marriage, bringing the rains, and more. The importance of the Kokopelli is unique to each Pueblo tribe's belief systems and differs slightly between tribes.
